The book presents a clear vision of a more diversified, competitive, and confident Saskatchewan by 2040. Saskatchewan Institute Project Director Heidi McKillop will be hosting a discussion with Richard about the book and about Saskatchewan's future. Saskatoon has experienced a significant surge in potholes, with reports doubling to nearly 2,000 compared to the previous year. Roadways manager Cam LeClaire attributes this increase to frequent freeze-thaw cycles throughout the winter season. The resulting road damage has caused frustration among drivers concerned about potential vehicle damage. While SGI indicates that pothole-related damage is typically covered by insurance, they advise motorists to reduce speeds and maintain extra distance to spot hazards early. The City of Saskatoon currently has 10 to 13 crews dedicated to repairs and urges drivers to exercise caution in work zones. Residents are encouraged to report potholes through the City’s online map, while hazards posing immediate risks of injury or damage should be reported via telephone.

The City of Saskatoon has extended outdoor water use restrictions for residents in more than a dozen east-side neighbourhoods until June 1st, citing weather-related delays on the Acadia Drive primary water main replacement project. Affected areas include Briarwood, Lakeview, Rosewood, Brevoort Park, and several others. Under the restrictions, residents in those neighbourhoods cannot use lawn sprinklers or irrigate using outdoor watering systems. The restrictions were originally expected to end earlier in the spring but were extended as the construction timeline slipped. Residents in the affected areas are bearing a direct limitation on their property use as a result of a City infrastructure project falling behind schedule - with the City offering no compensation for the inconvenience.

Council has left the future of downtown bus-only lanes on 1st Avenue uncertain after narrowly voting down both a deferral and the proposed plan. The project, which is part of a broader transit upgrade, would have introduced dedicated bus lanes and four stations between 20th and 25th Streets. Supporters argued the changes would improve transit efficiency and strengthen downtown connectivity, while opponents raised concerns about parking loss, operational impacts, and incomplete technical details. Some Councillors who previously supported the concept changed their positions, adding to what one observer described as confusion in the chamber. City Administration has now been tasked with gathering more information on issues such as snow clearing and emergency access. For now, no clear alternative plan for the corridor has been approved.
- The Saskatoon Paramedic Association has rejected a tentative agreement with its employer, Medavie Health Services West, effectively maintaining its strike mandate. This rejection follows over two years of contract negotiations and a previous unanimous rejection of a proposal in February. Association President Russell Grant clarified that while the union has the willingness to use its strike mandate, a strike is not currently imminent. The association stated its commitment to securing a "fair agreement" that reflects the dedication of its members. Despite the prolonged negotiations, which began in early 2024, the union has not yet taken any formal job action. Both parties remain at an impasse as they seek a resolution to the contract dispute.
