Welcome to Day 7 of our Saskatoon 2024 Campaign Roundup!

With the 2024 municipal election underway, we'll be bringing you daily updates on all the policy proclamations, platform promises, and political point-scoring from the campaign trail.

As always, our work is entirely funded by donations from residents just like you, so if you appreciate the updates, please consider making a one-off donation or signing up as a supporter for just $10 a month - that's just 36 cents per email!

Campaign Roundup - Day 7:

  • Today is the last day of advance voting. You can vote until 8:00 pm today at any polling station of your choice. A list of polling stations is available here.

  • Tomorrow, through to November 7th, there will be Post-Secondary Advance Polls available on the University of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Polytechnic campuses. Those polling stations will be open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

  • Almost 12,000 people have voted already in advance polls, which accounts for just over 6% of the registered voters in the city.

  • CTV profiled Ward 5 Candidates. Five candidates are competing for the seat: incumbent Randy Donauer is focusing on fiscal accountability and essential services like police, fire, roads, and parks. Kyla Kitzul is emphasizing reducing emissions, improving transit, and promoting densification. Tyler Knihnitski is aiming to reduce crime, support police, and expand fire services. David Prokopchuk is prioritizing affordable utilities, reliable infrastructure, and robust police and fire services, and Nick Prytula is committed to safety, infrastructure, and maintaining a balanced budget.

  • CTV also profiled Ward 6. There are also 5 candidates running for that seat. Terry Alm, a former City Council member, is focusing on affordable housing, opposing the Housing Accelerator Fund, and addressing homelessness. Tony Bassett is prioritizing affordable housing, community safety, and building a sustainable future. Terry Hoknes is emphasizing homelessness solutions, emissions reduction, and transit improvement. Jonathan Naylor is advocating for responsible development, sustainability, and community safety, and Jasmin Parker is focusing on infrastructure, inclusion, and modernizing transit
