Election 2024: Campaign Roundup - Day 5

Welcome to Day 5 of our Saskatoon 2024 Campaign Roundup!
With the 2024 municipal election underway, we'll be bringing you daily updates on all the policy proclamations, platform promises, and political point-scoring from the campaign trail.
As always, our work is entirely funded by donations from residents just like you, so if you appreciate the updates, please consider making a one-off donation or signing up as a supporter for just $10 a month - that's just 36 cents per email!
Campaign Roundup - Day 5:
- Advance polling stations are open from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm today through November 4th. During advance voting, you can vote at any polling station. You can find a list of those stations online.
- CTV profiled Ward 1 candidates. Five candidates are running for the seat: incumbent Darren Hill, business owner Kevin Boychuk, business owner and mother Kathryn MacDonald, Sutherland Curling Club assistant manager Dallas Burnett, and electrician Russell Nadin.
- CTV also ran a profile on Ward 3 candidates. Running for the seat are Devyn Gregoire, who is the Events and Marketing Coordinator at Saskatchewan Polytechnic Students' Association, Robert Pearce, a Pastor at Fairmont Baptist Church and a founding member of the Saskatoon West Business Association, and Mike San Miguel, who serves as an Industry Partnership Representative at SGI and was as the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commissioner for seven years.
- Local playwright Joel Bernbaum endorsed Cynthia Block for Mayor, based on her support for the arts.
- Mayoral candidate Cary Tarasoff criticized Cynthia Block for voting for the new arena, suggesting that it would cause added taxes for residents.
