Election 2024: Campaign Roundup - Day 4

Welcome to Day 4 of our Saskatoon 2024 Campaign Roundup!
With the 2024 municipal election underway, we'll be bringing you daily updates on all the policy proclamations, platform promises, and political point-scoring from the campaign trail.
As always, our work is entirely funded by donations from residents just like you, so if you appreciate the updates, please consider making a one-off donation or signing up as a supporter for just $10 a month - that's just 36 cents per email!
Campaign Roundup - Day 4:
- Advance voting started today. Advance polling stations are open from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm and run until November 4th. You can locate a polling station here.
- There will also be two post-secondary advance polling stations available from November 5th to November 7th, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm each day at the University of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
- CTV profiled the Ward 4 candidates. Incumbent Troy Davies has held the position since 2012 and prioritizes community safety. He is running against Courtney Saliken, a Local Area Superintendent with Canada Post focusing on fiscal responsibility and community health and Numman Shafqat, a local real estate agent advocating for low taxes and crime reduction.
- Mayoral candidates Cynthia Block, Don Atchison, and Gordon Wyant shared their plans for addressing homelessness, crime, and property taxes on CBC’s morning show. Block advocated for community involvement and proximity of services for the homeless, while Wyant suggested using abandoned properties for affordable housing and Atchison proposed tiny homes on City land.
- Cary Tarasoff did not attend the CBC debate. Instead, he published answers to CBC’s questions on his website.
